Closing the Gap on County Boards

After a decade of transformative results that brought the California Legislature from 22% to 49% women, CTG is expanding to build the pipeline down ballot–ensuring that women are ready to serve and move up to state and federal positions for generations to come!

County Boards are among the state’s most powerful and impactful political bodies. Yet they operate under the radar of public attention, and are deeply unrepresentative:

  • 47.3% of California’s county supervisors are Republicans—nearly double the percentage of Republican voters across the state.
  • Women of color make up less than 14% of all county supervisors, despite being upwards of 30% of California’s total population.
  • Just 34% of county supervisors are women.

43% of our county boards have only one or zero women supervisors.

Starting with the 2028 election cycle, we’re recruiting for open and flippable County Board of Supervisors seats in the 14 counties with term limits, up and down California. With our targeted, research-backed strategy, we’ll find and prepare more progressive women to run and win.
