Candidate Recruiters.  Meet them before they’re famous!  Our candidate team members identify, research, vet, interview and recruit talented women who could and should be leaders in the CA legislature.Curiosity, perseverance, a knack for detail and a good phone manner are important qualities for this political talent scout.  We’ll teach you political mapping and interview basics.  You’ll work with a team of veteran recruiters who will guide you.  Learn the political landscape of California, the qualities that make an excellent candidate, and what goes into the decision to run.

Fundraising Assistant.  Money makes the world go round – and that is certainly true today in politics.   We’re looking for a volunteer with development and event production experience; someone who is goal-oriented, loves a challenge and has a good time hitting the target.   This position requires strong organization skills, genuine appreciation of donors, and knowledge of Excel and related computer programs.Learn about major donor development, plan and assist with events, snail mail and crowdfunding. You will acquire the most valuable skill for anyone who wants to make their mark “behind the scenes” or out front as a candidate.

Writer. Get the attention of bloggers and editors with your winning words.Publications often ask for descriptions of our campaign, for news articles about women in politics and for opinion pieces relating our work to current affairs.

Who didn’t have an opinion about Jill Abramson and the New York Times?

We need a writer who can work with us to fulfill those requests, write first drafts, edit and proof.

Have you written for publication, but need practice to raise your game?  Would you like to build your portfolio?  This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to be a columnist or blog regularly.  Love of language, respect for grammar rules and creative flair required.  Humor welcome.

Progressive Alliance Liaison.  Can you help us stay in touch with our more than 30 allied women’s political organizations and expand our network to include the larger progressive community?   This position facilitates communication among a large network of organizations that share our goal of increasing the number of women in the legislature.Pleasant but purposeful phone manner, strong organization and interview skills are helpful in this position.  An ability to work within a complex organization, collect, gather, share and disseminate useful information to proper parties is key.  Some writing and web experience also helpful.  If you want to see the inside of coalition politics, we are a good place to start!

Field Mapper.   Wish you had been a geography major?  Love statistics about cities and counties?   Crave details and colorful facts about towns, local topography and folklore?  Want to win a trivia contest on California?  This position is for you!We’re looking to create an in-house expert to research and explore the 16 Assembly and Senate districts (check the list here) critical to our “16 in ’16” campaign success.   Good knowledge of resources, willingness to learn relevant political sources and voter information and an urge to dig for more data are critical qualities for this field expert in the making.
