  There are only three women of color in the California State Senate.

Susan Rose

Susan Rose served two terms on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors. She is the current Vice Chair of the Santa Barbara Human Rights Watch Committee, a Board member of the McCune Foundation, and a Trustee of Antioch University. She began her professional career as a high school and community college instructor. Since then she has over thirty years’ experience in public administration, education, and community activism with a special emphasis on women and women’s leadership. She has served as Executive Director of the Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women, a founding member of the Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee, and a Board Member of California Women Lead.
