  There are only three women of color in the California State Senate.

Sonya Logman

Sonya Logman currently serves as Deputy Secretary of Business and Consumer Relations at the California Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency, which oversees various state entities that license and regulate professionals, preserves affordable housing, and protects the civil rights of Californians.

Over her decade of public service, she has contributed to the progress of long standing leaders in the Democratic Party as staff to Governor Jerry Brown, Lt. Governors Mona Pasquil, John Garamendi, and Cruz Bustamante and then-Assemblymember Cathleen Galgiani. She also served on the executive team at the California Exposition & State Fair, which is responsible for maintaining a 750-acre state property in Sacramento, as well as hosting the celebration of our Golden State’s accomplishments at the annual California State Fair.

Sonya has been a long standing member of the California Young Democrats and has held multiple leadership positions in the statewide organization and the local Sacramento Chapter. She currently serves as Chair of the Women’s Caucus.

As a proud Korean-American, she has worked to encourage young APIs through international affairs, mentorship and supporting California-based programs like the Asian Pacific Islander Capitol Association, Asian Pacific State Employees Association and Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project.
