Karen Weinstein serves on the Berkeley Commission on the Status of Women, and is an activist and a grassroots organizer long-involved in the struggle for women’s rights, labor rights, and health care. She has put her talents to work as Chair for the California Democratic Party’s Women’s Caucus, as a member of the 14th AD Alameda County Democratic Central Committee, as Co-Chair of the United Democratic Campaign for Berkeley, Albany, and Emeryville, as a member of the Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club and the CDP Progressive Caucus. She is an Executive Board Member of NWPC-Alameda North. Karen understands time is precious, as only a cancer survivor can; she wastes no time in fighting for core social justice values. Karen received her Ph.D. from the State University of Buffalo in counseling and is a licensed psychologist. She has worked with Kaiser Permanente and in the mental health field for over 20 years.
