Dezie Woods-Jones

Dezie Woods-Jones served as the first African American woman Vice Mayor of Oakland, and as a Member of the Oakland City Council. Dezie is the State President and Founder of Black Woman Organized for Political Action (BWOPA), one of the most politically influential organizations in the nation. She is also President and CEO of the Training Institute for Leadership Enrichment, and owner of DWJ & Associates. Dezie is a long time civic and educational leader who has worked tirelessly for the underprivileged and disenfranchised especially youth and women, for more than 40 years.
