“Understanding The Issues and Conflicts in Today’s Education Reform”
Dr. Sherry Opacic, OC Dept. of Education
Most people believe that education reform that incorporates concrete standards and goals that are applicable to all students is a good idea. This reform movement is called Standards Based Education Reform. Under this system, students are measured against real and specific standards rather than merely against one another. But it’s actually quite controversial. Wonder why? Want to understand the issues and controversies in education reform? This is the lunch for you.
Sherry Opacic is the Associate Superintendent of Instructional Services for the OC Dept of Education. She’s in the middle of this reform movement.
These are issues we should all understand to insure that our education system is actually preparing students to succeed in the 21st century. Sherry will provide you with information and insight into these issues that are so important to our future.
