close the gap CA is hosting a webinar – “Winning Endorsements

Friday, October 16th from noon – 1 pm P.T..


This webinar is essential for anyone running for office now or in the future. Hear from representatives from key progressive constituencies on what endorsements are most important to your race, how to get them and how to use them effectively. For a progressive running in CA, organizations like these can provide essential resources to your campaign from an endorsement, to volunteers to financial support.

Liz Figueroa, Former State Senator: Liz Figueroa is the Vice President of Public Relations at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte. She was the first Northern California Latina elected to the state legislature and served 2 terms in the California State Senate (1998-2006) and 2 terms in the State Assembly (1994-1998). Liz currently sits on the Boards of the Little Hoover Commission, Women in Government, Hispanic Community Affairs Council, Joint Venture Silicon Valley Network, the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Legal Assistance for Seniors, Centro Legal de la Raza Advisory Board, California Corporate Board Registry Advisory Board, AnewAmerica Women’s Business Center, and the California Elected Women’s Association for Education and Research (CEWAER).


Chris Patterson, Political Director, CA State Council of the International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO (CA Professional Firefighters): Chris Patterson is the Political Director of CPF which represents 30,000 front-line emergency responders. He provides political advice to the CPF leadership; directs CPF strategies related to federal, state and local elections; manages its multi-million dollar political action committee, independent expenditure and ballot measure programs, and delivers critical support to CPF’s robust state legislative program.

Dinah Stephens, Director of Public Affairs, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project Los Angeles County: Dinah Stephens serves as the Public Affairs Manager at Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project Los Angeles, a local non-profit organization that provides over 140,000 Angelenos with reproductive health care every year, including life-saving cancer screenings, contraception, STI testing and treatment, and abortion.

Amanda Wallner, Sierra Club California: Amanda Wallner is the Policy and Operations Managers at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the largest LGBT rights organization in the world. She has an electoral organizing background dating back to 2008, including several California congressional campaigns and marriage equality ballot initiatives across America. Amanda previously worked for Sierra Club California.
