NWPC – Planned Parenthood: Training for Professionals

July 17, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Are you a teacher looking to provide realistic answers to your students’ questions? A faith leader needing to find the correct language when dealing with sexual-related topics?

Don’t keep struggling to find the words — we can help you open the lines of communication, so you can get your point across clearly and concisely. Learn how to speak about sensitive reproductive health topics and more at our Training for Professionals Program.

Over the last two years, our Health Education department has trained 380 participants in our Training for Professionals Program. The upcoming webinar, which will take place on July 17, is one hour and a half and consists of four topics. The training program is designed to provide teachers, social service workers, group home leaders, faith leaders, and others with realistic answers for their clients’ questions and behaviors about sexuality.

During the program, participants are guided through various information-oriented, communication-driven, and advocacy-related discussions by trained and certified Health Educators.

So, why do the training in the first place? Despite the decline in national teen birth rates, local communities continue to experience rates above the national average. Studies state that comprehensive sexual health education offers critical thinking among youth and thereby delays sexual debut. One of the goals for the program is to really enhance awareness of the challenges faced by youth to the people that are mentoring and teaching them. We also want to increase knowledge of trends surrounding teen pregnancy and STIs. The last main objective is to increase motivation to become an informed resource for youth to help decrease sexual risk-taking behaviors.

Register today and become a reliable, trusted resource for the youth in your community!
