“Running a Campaign & Empowering Women – Nov. 2014”

Magdalena Gomez

Magdalena ran for Fresno County Board of Supervisor in District 4 this year and was one of our NWPC endorsed candidates for the June, 2014 primary. Magdalena was raised and currently resides in Parlier. After graduating from Selma High School, Magdalena attended Carleton College in Minnesota and then embarked on a career in financial services. Before returning home to Parlier, she managed daily financial operations in the field of portfolio management, consulting group management, and global wealth management for what is now Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

Magdalena currently works for Tenants Together as their Central Valley Regional Foreclosure Outreach Coordinator. Through her Outreach Program, Magdalena assists people in saving their homes by coordinating seminars that provide homeowners with financial and legal resources as the result of the Consumer Assistance Grant from the State Attorney General’s Office. Additionally, her seminars provide tenants with a legal clinic educate them about their rights through the foreclosure process.

Madalena’s parents instilled in her the value of volunteer service and giving back to her community. In the past, she has taught film to at-risk youth, coached soccer and tennis, fund-raised for a variety of non-profits throughout the state, and provided leadership and college education forums for high school students state-wide. Magdalena has been a tireless advocate for Dream Act Students and Comprehensive Immigration Reform. She continues to volunteer throughout the year as she is involved with multiple non-profit organizations statewide. Magdalena is currently participating in Selma’s “REBOZO” Festival to raise funds for the Selma Mural Project.
