Mendocino Women’s Political Coalition – 32rd Annual Women’s History Gala Celebration

March 8, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Weaving the Stories of Women’s Lives is the theme of the Women’s History this year. The Mendocino Women’s Political Coalition will hold its 32rd Annual Women’s History Gala Celebration on Sunday, March 8, 2015, 12:00 pm, at the Saturday Afternoon Clubhouse, 107 S. Oak St. in Ukiah.

We open at 12 noon for socializing, refreshments, silent auction and new experiences. There is a lot going on so you won’t want to miss this time before the stage program which begins at 12:30 pm.

We will be featuring five Mendocino women from very different paths of work: Jean Near for her work in agriculture, Cathy Monroe for helping to create and maintain Eagle Peak Environmental Center, Victoria Patterson for her work with Native American students at Mendocino College, and jointly Leslie Dahlhoft and Merita Whatley for their effort to bring to fruition the Point Arena – Stormetta Natural Monument. Our MC will be Estelle Clifton, a professional forester who has worked to mitigate environmental impact.

Fiona Ma, our representative on the California Board of Equalization will be our guest speaker. Elected to Board in 2014, Fiona Ma was first elected to represent the people of California’s 12th Assembly District from November 2006 to November. She formally entered the field of politics in 1995, serving as a part-time district representative for the former President pro Tempore of the California Senate, John Burton. Fiona was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, where she served for four years until 2006. During her tenure on the Board of Supervisors, she authored the landmark Local Business Enterprise ordinance on behalf of women and minority business owners and passed legislation to tackle human trafficking.

You may reserve your tickets at $10.00 per person at this time. Please make checks payable to the MWPC. Complementary tickets are available upon request.

We are thankful for your continued encouragement and support of involving women in the political process and we look forward to celebrating with you on March 8, 2015.
