The United States ranks 98th in the world in number of women serving
in their national legislatures. We are behind Mexico, China and
Pakistan. The California State Senate is only 30% female;
the State Assembly is only 25% female.
In Santa Clara County, there is only 1 woman on the Board of Supervisors and women make up only 31% of Councilmembers in Santa Clara County’s 15 cities even though women make up over half the County’s population.
