Coupling an invitation to run with an in-depth exploration of what a campaign for the legislature means.
Planting the Seeds for Success
In 2014 and 2016, we tried out our theories and recruiting practices. Now, we know that recruiting makes a significant difference.
The 2016 cycle demonstrated that increasing the number of progressive women running in open, winnable seats leads to success.
Success takes long term planning, building a bench, tracking open and soon–to-be-open seats, and sowing seeds of ambition as we go.
Preparing and Recruiting 2018 – 2020
We are recruiting in open legislative seats AND for targeted supervisorial seats.
While there will be fewer open seats in 2018 and 2020, we are preparing for the windfall in 2022, and in the three successive elections, as legislators elected under 12-year limits are termed out.
We are simultaneously anticipating the domino effects of Legislative and Congressional retirements and building a progressive bench by recruiting in open County Supervisor seats where we anticipate 2022, 2024, 2026, and 2028 legislative vacancies.
Seizing the opportunity 2022 – 2028
We can seize each and every opportunity to elect another progressive woman to the CA legislature by:
Adding additional recruiter in southern CA
Further mining the purple districts in the Central Valley
Being ready with a solid list of prospects in the event a legislative seat opens anywhere in the state
